It's funny how you can wander the face of the earth for so many years and never ever hear of some particular phenomenon; then one day someone says something like, "You've never heard of YouTube? How could you never have heard of YouTube??" and you have this empty feeling of shame for being left out and a burning curiosity to know all you can about said phenomenon so that you too can one day say, "How could you never have heard of YouTube?" Then you start to see it everywhere, as if only non believers are blind to it and you have now been initiated into the fold.
I had one of those quintessential New York experiences the other day where I came out of one side of the subway whilst my friend Christopher exited the other side and we met up in the middle of the street. We started talking and he mentioned YouTube and how much fun it is and I had no idea what it was all about. I got home, Greg had sent me the Gnarls tune and I started doing reconnaissance and sure enough his videos are posted at YouTube.
Since then I've seen it everywhere. People have sent me e-mail links, I saw the amazing Stephen Colbert roast of the president and press corps and the subsequent news article saying that CSPAN bullied them into taking it down.
Here's a few of my faves to pass the time and lift your spirits on this overcast Friday morning
This was circulating at Christmas time, but somehow GoGo Girl on Block is just as funny now matter how many times I watch her strut her stuff.
This girl I'm sitting next to at Ecko showed me Boy Kicked by Dancer. I think she watched it at least 20 times, laughing her ass off.
Along the same lines, I searched "girl dancing fall" and found these 2 gems:
Cheerleader Faceplanting and one I like to call Chair Dancer.
At this point you're probably wondering if I'm aware I'm going to hell for thinking above videos are funny : Yes, fully aware. But this is my bid to drag you down with me. Enjoy!
